Archiving Policy

Introduction

Al Noor recognizes the importance of open access and long-term preservation of scholarly research. This policy outlines the guidelines for authors regarding the archiving of their published articles.

2. Archiving Options

Authors have the following options for archiving their work:

  • Preprints: Authors may deposit preprints of their articles on preprint servers (e.g., arXiv, bioRxiv) before or upon submission to Al Noor. Preprints can be updated with the final peer-reviewed version after acceptance.
  • Post-prints: Authors are encouraged to deposit the final, peer-reviewed post-prints of their articles in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, and on their personal websites.

3. Archiving Requirements

  • When archiving preprints or post-prints, authors must include the following information:
    • A clear statement acknowledging publication in Al Noor.
    • A link to the published article on the Al Noor website (if applicable).
  • Authors are responsible for adhering to any specific archiving embargo periods set by Al Noor for certain article types.

4. Benefits of Archiving

Archiving scholarly articles offers several benefits:

  • Increased visibility and discoverability of research
  • Broader dissemination of knowledge
  • Enhanced citation impact
  • Long-term preservation and accessibility

5. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their articles published in Al Noor. Unless otherwise specified, articles will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. This license allows for the sharing and adaptation of the work with attribution to the original authors.
